One of the most common questions that our finance team receives at Hiley Volkswagen of Arlington is, “What is Volkswagen Credit?” You have likely encountered this term if you’ve shopped for a new Volkswagen model, and this financing services company is here to help you pay for your new vehicle. Our finance professionals share what you need to know about Volkswagen Credit.
Volkswagen Credit Explained
Volkswagen Credit is another name for VW Credit, Inc., which is a financial services company established in 1981. It has provided services such as vehicle financing and leasing to Volkswagen customers and dealers in the United States. It remains relevant for existing Volkswagen owners. For example, buyers who financed a Volkswagen car before May 1, 2025, as well as Volkswagen lease customers, may still manage their accounts through Volkswagen Financial Services and Volkswagen Credit. Customers can use their online account to make or cancel payments, request payoff quotes, review transaction and payment history, and download contracts and other documents.
Who Handles New Volkswagen Financing
A recent change to Volkswagen Credit makes the date you financed your Volkswagen car important. According to Volkswagen, drivers who began financing a Volkswagen car before May 1, 2025, remain Volkswagen Financial Services customers. However, customers who began financing on or after May 1, 2025 use Volkswagen Retail Finance powered by Wells Fargo.
Leasing works slightly differently. The current Volkswagen guidelines state that customers leasing their Volkswagen remain Volkswagen Financial Customers. If you’re unsure how to manage your account, start by checking when you signed your agreement and whether you financed or leased. Our finance professionals are also happy to help.
