New 2017 Volkswagen Jetta at Hiley Volkswagen for Arlington, TX
The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta is a well-crafted vehicle whose economical use of space results in a comfortable interior. With many modern features provided standard at all levels mixed with a strut-type suspension, the passenger experience is smooth and pleasant. The three engine options are both fuel efficient and powerful.
Under the Jetta's Hood
There are three engines available on the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta sedan. The baseline engine is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder which can generate 150 horse power and 184 pound-feet of torque. It comes coupled with a five-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drive system. A six-speed automatic transmission is also available with this engine. The turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and generates 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes standard on the SEL trim. If you're interested in even more power, the GLI trim comes standard with a turbo charged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and can produce 210 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual, while a six-speed dual-clutch automatic is optional if you prefer. The 2017 VW Jetta comes with a strut-type front suspension and includes, telescopic dampers, coil springs and an anti-roll bar, which produces a more precise and agile experience. The Jetta is also fuel efficient for its size; the smallest engine gets an EPA-estimated 32 MPG while the 2.0-liter engine is estimated at 27 MPG. With a variety of options available, the driver can pick the engine that best suits their needs and preferences.
Design of Volkswagen Jetta
The technology used in the 2017 Jetta is intuitive to use and well-integrated into the design of the vehicle. If you're looking for an upscale and modern driving experience then the Jetta is well-worth a look. Even at the base-level trims, the Jetta sees a lot of nice features. Power locks, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, and a rearview camera come standard on all Jettas. Premium options are abound, one of which is the MIB II infotainment with a 6.3-inch touchscreen which makes use of a capacitive touch sensor, which allows for gesture controls that the more common, resistive touchscreens aren't capable of. The touchscreen infotainment system also gives the driver access to the VW Car-Net system. Spacious on the inside, the Jetta features ample legroom, even in the back seat, which makes long car rides enjoyable for all passengers. The Jetta takes full advantage of its design, using the arcing roofline to give the back seat passengers additional headroom. 15.7 cubic feet of trunk space provides some solid storage space but for even more, the rear seatback folds forward and features an optional pass-through.

Safety features are intimately integrated into the Jetta at every trim level. Some standard items include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side, side curtain and front airbags, and a rearview camera. At higher trims, even more features become standard with rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring on the SE and automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning on the SEL. The Car-Net telematics system is standard on some models and optional on others and helps to put many safety and informational features all in one, easily-accessible location. The Car-Net system provides the owner of the vehicle with remote vehicle access, roadside assistance, automatic crash notification, and a geo-fencing tool, which helps parents set limits for teenage drivers. These utilities are made available remotely with the Volkswagen smartphone app.
